The conference series ICACS (since 1965) deals with physical and chemical phenomena induced by the interaction beams with condensed matter (surface, bulk of solids and liquids). Projectiles include singly and multiply charged ions, atoms and clusters, photons, electrons, positrons, antiprotons, etc. ICACS focuses on assessment of the state of the art in the current understanding of a variety of basic phenomena.

The conference series SHIM (since 1989) brings together the scientists performing the research with high-energy heavy ions in various fields, including radiation effects in solids, atomic physics, plasma physics, radiation biology and medicine, and nanotechnology. SHIM focuses on basic as well as applied research, including both theoretical and experimental aspects.

In 2018, both the ICACS and SHIM conferences took place jointly in Caen, France. The collaborative spirit of joint and specialized sessions during the conferences proved to be mutually beneficial for both communities.

The conferences will be held right after the Midsummer festivities, the most beautiful time of the Northern summer. You will be able to experience renowned white nights in the friendly atmosphere of the modern city with the historic main University building (conference venue) located in its very heart.
